It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Stead announce his passing on February 1st, 2021 at the age of 90. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Pauline, as well as his sons David, Keith and Michael. He was predeceased by his son Richard in 2006.
Brian was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in 1930. At age 18 he worked for the National Service in Cypress as a Morse Code Operator for 2 years. He and his first wife immigrated to Calgary in 1954 where they raised their three sons. In 1965 they moved t Victoria where Brian did a short stint with Victoria Tire before working at the Municipality of Saanich. He worked in many departments starting with the Water Works and ending as Purchasing Manager where he retired in 1991 after 20 years of service.
In 1992 he and Pauline moved to Errington. It was here he volunteered his time with many organizations such as the Errington Volunteer Fire Dept., Arrowsmith Lodge and the Parksville Legion where he was always called upon to help with elections. He was in his element!!
Being from Leeds he was a life-long Leeds United fan and was happy to hear before his passing that his team beat Leicester City (the stronger team) 3 to 1. He was also an avid soccer player himself playing with the Old Timers in Victoria for many years.
Brian was a kind and gentle soul who made many friends in his 90 years. To all that knew him please raise a glass to his life. I’m sure he will respond in kind.
Due to the Covid regulations a Celebration of Brian’s life will be held at a later date.
