Carol A. Daige Obituary

Carol A. (Lapan) Daige, age 74, of Hopedale and formerly of Milford died on Tuesday, February 2nd surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was the devoted, loving wife of Thomas A. Daige for 48 years. She was born on July 6, 1946 to the late Lloyd and Rita Lapan in Milford. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965. Carol was nurse’s aide until retirement, beginning her career at Milford Regional Hospital, and continuing onto Adin Manor, Hopedale Garden Nursing Home and retiring from Countryside Healthcare of Milford in 2010. She was a “professional caregiver,” always putting others first and taking care of their needs, in both her career and her family life. She was a member of the Hopedale Fire Department Womens’ Auxiliary, a cub scout den mother, campfire girl scout troop leader, and in retirement “Mimi” to all of the children at her daughter’s daycare “The Peanut Gallery.” Her dedication and love to her family will be missed. In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her loving children: Thomas M. Daige and his fiancée Laney Carey of Milford and Judith LeClaire and her husband Jeffrey of Upton; her grandchildren: Mackenzie, Joseph and Sarah LeClaire, all of Upton; her siblings: Lloyd Lapan of Medway, Timothy Lapan of Douglas and Maureen Lapan and her friend Gladys Reardon of Webster; her sister-in-law Emily Compagnon of Northbridge; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Patrick J Lapan. She also leaves behind her beloved grand dogs: Charlie and Chloe and her favorite 4-legged nephews: Fergus and Oliver who all brought her happiness every day through her last. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 9-10am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon Street, Upton. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church at 10am. Interment Hopedale Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s name may be made to: Oliva Patient Comfort Fund, c/o Milford Regional Healthcare, 14 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757 or Salmon VNA Hospice, 37 Birch St., Milford, MA 01757.
