Linda Louise Jost Obituary

Linda Louise Jost, 86, of Westphalia, passed away peacefully with her loving husband of 66 years, Frank F. Jost Jr., by her side on February 1, 2021. She was born on May 18, 1934, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Fedor) Chicowlas. Linda was united in marriage to Frank on July 10, 1954, at the Naval Air Technical Training Center Memphis in Millington, TN. Linda graduated from St. Rita’s High School in Detroit in 1952 and proudly served her country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. She attained the rank of Seaman and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Linda attended Southeast Missouri University and later studied history at Lincoln University. Linda retired after 25 years of service as the membership clerk at Three Rivers Electric Cooperative in Linn. A lifelong Catholic, Linda was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek, having served on several committees and projects. She was a member of the American Legion Paul Hasenbeck Post #317 and Willing Workers civic club in Loose Creek. Linda’s true joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For 66 years, she lovingly cared for her family. She did everything from substitute teaching at St. George Catholic School in Linn, being a Scouting and 4-H leader and attending countless school activities to making every birthday special and traveling hours for graduations and weddings. She and Frank loved to travel and Linda collected seashells from every destination. Spending time with family and friends on the Gasconade and Osage rivers was one of their favorite pastimes. Linda had a passion for reading, enjoyed sewing and especially loved going out with the “Three Rivers gals” and her circle of friends from Willing Workers. She is survived by her children: Randy Jost (Vickie), Donna Jost (Ron), Melissa Helmig (Randy), and Cindy Ruether (Gary); 12 grandchildren: Tom Jost (Hope), Halie Oyler (Dan), Brad Jost (Janelle), Emelia Torres (Adam), Greg Jost (Austin), Chelsea Inman (Ben), Cari Divine (Prince), Christine Berg (Josh), Nathan Helmig, Casandra Helmig, Michelle Hirschman (Kyle) and Samantha Ruether; 11 great-grandchildren; brother William “Bill” Chicowlas (Nancy); sisters Joanne Taylor (Jim), Marge Chicowlas (Steven Grimes), and Elaine Schuch (Greg); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son Ron in September 2016; mother- and father-in-law, Flossie Lee and Frank Jost Sr.; sister-in-law, Drucilla Moore; brother-in-laws, Blair Moore, Ferrel Jost and Steven Grimes; and son-in-law Daniel Creach. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Anthony R. Rinaldo and Rev. Ignazio C. Medina co-officiating. Private interment will immediately follow in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek.
