Edward Henry Dampier, son of the late Ray & Alpha (Clemmons) Dampier, was born on August 1, 1934 and departed this life on February 1, 2021. At the time of his passing, he was 86 years of age. Edward was preceded in passing by his wife, Joella; and his parents. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Boswell of Springfield, Missouri and Sharon Dampier of Camdenton, Missouri; and one granddaughter, Amanda Boswell. Edward was born in Ira, Missouri and graduated from Tunas High School in 1952. Immediately following his high school graduation, he began studying at Southwest Missouri State University. While he was enrolled at Southwest Missouri State, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for nearly four years until his honorable discharge from the service in St. Louis, Missouri. While in St. Louis he finished his degree at Washington University and met his soon to be wife, Joella Reid. On December 30, 1958, the couple was united in marriage and to this union two children were born, Karen and Sharon. Together they enjoyed attending the local ballgames, going to see a movie and traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks to Water Ski. Edward moved to Sikeston, Missouri after he finished his degree to begin his career as a FDIC Bank Examiner. The family then moved to Springfield, Missouri and later settled on the family farm in Eldridge, Missouri in 1974. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and reading; He thoroughly enjoyed reading John Grisham novels and studying ancient aliens. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday February 5, 2021 in Ira Cemetery, Eldridge, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
