Mr. Corey Alan Murphy of Clermont, Georgia, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Foundation Food Group in Gainesville, Georgia having attained the age of 35 years, 8 months, and 18 days. He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on Friday, May 10, 1985, the son of Cliff Murphy and Terri (Smith) Murphy. He was of Methodist faith, a member of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, served four years each and was Honorably discharged from the United States Army and the National Guard after serving a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan, graduate of Cumberland County High School class of 2003, and production superintendent at Foundation Food Group in Gainesville, Georgia.

     He was preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents, Truman & Nancy (Thomas) Murphy, Maternal Grandfather, James Neal “Jimmie” Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen (Bryant) “Codi” Murphy of Burkesville, Kentucky whom he wed on Saturday, September 13, 2014, father, Cliff Murphy of Burkesville, Kentucky, mother and step father, Terri (& B.J.) Svajgl of Gainesville, Georgia, children, Cara Beth Murphy, Cassidy Mae Murphy, sister, Kelsi (& Josh) Cooksey of Burkesville, Kentucky, nephews, Curtis Cooksey, Travis Cooksey, Weston Cooksey, grandmother, Lillie (Anderson) Smith of Burkesville, Kentucky, aunts, Deborah Murphy-Irby, Cindy (& Jim) Brewington, Karen (& Phillip) Lee, uncles, Truman Michael Murphy, Daryl Gene (& Michelle) Murphy, Dr. Jimmie Shaun (& Becky) Smith, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bro Todd and Criss Bryant, brother-in-law, Douglas (& Anna) Bryant, and a host of other relatives and many many friends.

The funeral was conducted on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cumberland County High School Gymnasium in Burkesville, Kentucky with Bro. Todd Bryant & Bro. Logan Wells officiating. Casket bearers were Josh Cooksey, Josh Murphy, Jordan Murphy, Anthony Gilbert, Doug Bryant, Craig Smith. Honorary casketbearers were Corbin Murphy, Daniel Lee, David Morgan, Trevor Dyer, Nathan Garner, Ashley Torres, Matt Hicks, Corey Cash, Harold Bridges, Bryant Young, Ivan Martin, Austin New, Curtis Cooksey, John Fletcher, B.j. Norris, Andrew Castillo, Eric Wheeler, Conner Cash, Landon Gilbert, Kyle Willis, Travis Holliday, Matt Page, Canyon Roach, Chris. Burial was in the Burkesville Cemetery in Burkesville, Kentucky with Military honors provided by the Glasgow D.A.V. Chapter 20-Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to the Cara and Cassidy Murphy Scholarship Fund C/O First and Farmers National Bank. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
