It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father William Neil Galbraith on January 27/2021 at the age of 85, in Hinton Alberta.

Bill was born on April 6/1935 in Fort Francis, Ont. to Neil & Agnus Galbraith. He had one older brother Don (Bea) Galbraith who still resides in Fort Francis.

Bill met and married our mother Gerri (Sampson) on August 21/1954. They resided in Atikokan, Ont. until 1968 when they came west, first to Grande Cache and then Hinton where they settled.

Bill was a talented athlete and had success in multiple sports. He was a World Junior Log Rolling Champion as a teenager and was a member of the 1952 Allan Cup Fort Francis Canadians Championship hockey team. He was also instrumental in bringing the Hinton Cardinals Junior B Hockey team to Hinton and spent many years behind the bench as their coach.

Bill is survived by his 6 children, Aaron (Fiona) Galbraith, Dale (Betty) Galbraith, Shawn (Tom) Vinson, Lori (Doug) Melnychuk, Gayle Galbraith, Brett (Darla) Galbraith. He leaves behind 15 Grand Children and 16 Great Grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Neil and Agnus, and his loving wife Gerri. He is survived by his brother Don Galbraith.

Due to the Covid restrictions, there will be no service at this time. The family will gather when able to have a celebration of life.

The family would like to thank the staff at Continuing Care and the nurses from Home Care, Hinton for the care and compassion our dad received while living there. We would also like to thank Dr. Dreyer for his time and patience while caring for dad.
