GARY E. MAYNARD WASHBURN Washburn – Gary E. Maynard, 84, husband of Catherine M. (Labrecque) Maynard, passed away Thursday evening, January 28, 2021 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born April 6, 1936 in Presque Isle, the son of Preston and Esther (Conroy) Maynard. He attended Washburn schools and was married to Catherine M. Labrecque on August 21, 1954. He was employed by Lane Construction for many years, retiring in 1999, and was a member of the Local 4 Operators and Engineers Union. In years past, Gary greatly enjoyed stockcar racing with his brothers at Spud’s Speedway in Caribou, his greatest joy however came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by two brothers, Darrell and Jackson Maynard. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Catherine Maynard of Washburn; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael G. and Dorothy Maynard of Chugiak, Alaska; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Russell Maynard of Mapleton, Wendy and Scott Clark of Fort Fairfield, Bobbi Jo and Lawrence Mallol of Wilson, NC; one brother, Rodney Maynard of Presque Isle; two sisters, Joanne Bouchard of Caribou, Penney Miller and her husband Robert of Washburn; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Wade and Beth Maynard of Hollis, Spencer and Heather Maynard of Caribou, Danielle Maynard of Charlotte, NC, Deirdra and Greg Parker of Boise, ID, Brandon Clark and Marisa Clark, both of Lakeland, GA, Zachary, Brody and Samantha Mallol, all of Wilson, NC; six great grandchildren, Kirsten Mallory, Marigan, Devin, Mason and Addison; several nieces and nephews. There will be no services at this time. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Gary to the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04330. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
