Kenneth R. Andrews

<p>Age 69, of Shaler Twp. on Thursday, January 28, 2021, Kenn was the beloved father of Jillian, Haylee, and Ken Andrews; brother of Nancy Bestwick (Jim), Bruce Andrews (Lizz), and the late Tom Andrews (surv. Leslie).&nbsp; Kenn was an accomplished athlete, loyal friend, and loving father, brother, and son.</p> <p>A distinguished athlete, Kenn lettered in football, basketball, and track, and was voted &ldquo;Most Athletic&rdquo; at Mohawk High School. Between 1966 and 1969, he competed in and set school records in track and field events, especially in javelin and relay events and twice earning &ldquo;most outstanding performance&rdquo; awards.</p> <p>He lettered in football at Penn State University, competing in the Cotton Bowl in 1971 and Sugar Bowl in 1972. In 1974, he signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys and in 1976 was ranked in the top 10 in the county by Track and Field News.</p> <p>In 1988, Kenn developed and copyrighted the Cup-A-Joe coffee mug. In 1997, he was inducted into the Lawrence County Historical Society Sports Hall of Fame.</p> <p>Kenn enjoyed creating beautiful drawings, paintings, stained glass windows, photography, gardening, and building things.&nbsp; His appreciation of the arts and his creative eye always resulted in beautiful, unique masterpieces from homemade Christmas ornaments, to intricate stained glass windows.</p> <p>Kenn is described by his loved ones as &ldquo;exuberant&rdquo;, &ldquo;larger than life&rdquo;, a &ldquo;legend&rdquo;, a &ldquo;hero&rdquo;, and &ldquo;the best dad ever&rdquo;.&nbsp; He was a devoted and cherished member of Memorial Park Church and a faithful servant of God.</p> <p>Celebrate Mr. Andrews&rsquo; life with his family on Monday from 3-7pm at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 923 Saxonburg Blvd., Shaler Twp.
