Annabelle Buffalo It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother Annabelle Buffalo. Annabelle passed away at Lethbridge Regional hospital on January 25, 2021, at the age of 75. Annabelle is survived by her husband John Crow and her children. Chris, Pam, Stacey, Darcy (Christina) James (Leslie) and Star (her first grandchild she raised as her own). She has 15 grandchildren Rose, Windy, Benjamin, Nathan (Neddy), Myla, Fawn (Micah Sr.) Lashon, Araya, Winter, Jaydeon, Miracle Sage, Marius, Fancy, Shining Sky. She has 7 great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Phoebe, Rae, Micah, Alanis & two on the way. At the time of Annabelle’s passing, Annabelle was raising two of her great-grandchildren. Annabelle is survived by her brother Gordon Buffalo and sister Annette Buffalo. She has 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Annabelle is predeceased by her father Benedict Buffalo and mother Ethel Buffalo, her sister’s Elaine-Mary and Ada Buffalo. She is predeceased by her brother Gale Buffalo, nephew’s Scott Buffalo and Samuel Buffalo Jr, all of the Piikani Nation. Annabelle was born and raised at the Piikani Nation. She attended the residential school in Brocket and near Edmonton, Alberta. Annabelle came back to Brocket when she was 16 years old and stayed home to help her parents with her younger siblings. She had her oldest son Chris in 1965, during this time Annabelle was a single mother. In 1971 Annabelle met her husband John Crow and had children of their own. Annabelle had worked many jobs and occupations. One of her jobs was working at the complex doing janitor work alongside her husband in the late 1970’s. She worked at the Moccasin Factory making moccasins and met lots of Piikani members. One other job Annabelle often mentioned was going to B.C. and Washington, U.S.A., with her Small Legs family to pick apples. She took up upgrading in Pincher Creek and moved on doing more jobs. She worked in the health care as a Home Care worker and became friends with her clients. There are more jobs Annabelle worked up until to her passing. Annabelle really enjoyed her home and was her own home designer. She attended to her garden and owned a trailer. She also received a teepee. In the summertime, Annabelle would make it her mission to go camping on her land near the river. She tried to get her immediate family to participate much as possible as well as other activities she had planned. She always welcomed her children and grandchildren to the land she loved and grew up. Annabelle, was invited to do prayers for activities for the community of Brocket, attended sun dances and pow-wows. Annabelle stayed at home until the time of her passing. Annabelle will be greatly missed by her husband John, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Prayer Service to be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, Pincher Creek, at 12:00 noon, followed by Wake, which will be held until 10:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 4, at 11:00 am with Manfred North Peigan officiating and interment to take place on Annabelle’s family property.
