Henderson “Delbert” Bullard (HB), age 70, of Lumberton, North Carolina transitioned from this earth to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

His classmates and some others knew him as Delbert Locklear, others knew him as HB, Henderson, Mr. Bullard, H, or B. No matter what you called him, he was a loving Christian man.

HB (Delbert) was preceded in death by his birth parents:  Mr. Henry and Mrs. Aileen Bullard and his “father”: Mr. Benny Locklear; his loving wife : Mrs. Shirley Kathryn Carter Bullard; his son: Charles Mitchell Chavis; his mother and father-in-law; Mr. Lenard and Mrs. Eula Carter and many other special family members and friends to include Mr. Eli Martin, Jr and Mr. George Locklear.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son Derek (Amanda) and two daughters: Kelly, and Kristy (Brian) all of Lumberton: three brothers: Willie McGee, Earl Cox, and Roger Bullard, a special brother in law Jimmy Carter : nine grandchildren: Tyler, Lexi, Torey, Tristen, Kaley, Kaden, Kaitlyn, Kelsey and Sofia: two great grandsons: Jaxon and Karter and a host of relatives and friends, including his “brothers” from his time serving in Vietnam with the Delta Co 2/501st Infantry 101st Airborne Division part of the third platoon and Delta Raider Band of Brothers.

HB (Delbert) not only served his country by serving in Vietnam, but also did volunteer work with many churches, serving as a teacher, 4-H and youth leader. He served his community by volunteering with the American Red Cross, the National Marrow Donor Program, Southeastern Hospice, and many other nonprofit organizations.

HB (Delbert) met the love of his life at age 12 and married her on June 29, 1972. They enjoyed their family, friends and traveling the world together. He never let his illness overcome him being a witness for the Lord. He leaves behind a great legacy.
