Betty Jo Light Obituary

Betty Jo Light, daughter of the late Joe and Pearlie McCaleb, was born on October 11, 1937, in Huntsville, Alabama. She married Delano Light on August 18, 1956. Their union resulted in four children. Betty was the beloved matriarch of the “Light Compound” in Kelso, TN. She loved her family with everything in her and they returned that love. Betty was a Christian and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant at each of the two prior churches she attended and made many lifetime friends particularly at Northside Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at St. Thomas in Murfreesboro, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, child, Baby Light, brothers, James McCaleb and William McCaleb, sisters, Mable Thompson, Cora McCaleb, and Alice Towery, son-in-law, Daniel Jerome and granddaughter, Erin Petty. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, James Delano Light, her children, Mona (Jerry) Petty, Renee (Rickey) Price, and Becky (Keith) Christa; seven grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Mitchell, Heather Petty (Chad Turner), Jennifer Jerome, Cyndi Jerome, Caleb (Hannah) Christa, Joshua (Mikayla) Christa and Ryan Christa; eleven great grandchildren, Kiana Petty, Brooklyn Wilburn, Alyssa Petty, Jaylee Brown, Wyatt Christa, and Aaron Petty-Turner; bonus grandchildren, Mandy Price, Levi Mitchell, Landon Mitchell, Eura Turner and Ja’dore Turner; sister, Marie Towery; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in Fayetteville, TN. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The services will be officiated by Bro. Ed Johnson, Bro. Scotty Travis and Bro. Milton Martin. Burial will be in Campbell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 353 Stewarts Chapel Rd., Flintville, TN 37335 or your favorite charity.
