Joyce T. Pina

NEW BEDFORD-Joyce T. (Pires) Pina, 80, a resident of Alden Court Nursing & Rehabilitation died Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital following a period of declining health. She was the wife of João Ledo DePina of Brockton and Cape Verde and daughter of the late Eugene and Gilhemina (Monteiro) Pires. Born in Wareham, she resided in Boston for several years and in New Bedford for most of her life. Joyce was employed as a home health aide in private care until her retirement. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed cooking and shopping. Her family includes her husband; 2 sons, Eric Pires of Brockton and Darrin "Tt" Pires of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Sharnae Gilmette and her husband, Vernon of New Bedford, Danielle Matthews and her husband, Lawrence of Fall River and Lisa Pires of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Julio Pires and his wife, Reneé of New Bedford and Gilbert Pires and his wife, Judith of Atlanta, GA; 3 sisters, Mandina "Molly" Ramos and her husband, Elias of Fairhaven, Elaine Pires and Barbara Gracia, both of Boston; 16 grandchildren, Calvin Pires and his wife, Ashley, Kyle Daniels and his companion Krystal, Saige Rittenhouse and spouse, Steven, Ariana Pires, Andre Gage, Darrin Pires, Jr., Jena Mota, Chase Pires, Lerynn Gilmette, Shazan Gilmette, Saejzan Gilmette, Marques Pires, Robert Brown and companion, Laryssa, Cyarra Brown, Reice Matthews and Lawrence Matthews, Jr.; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sidney Pires (Late wife, Lydia), Richard Pires and Robert Pires (late wife, Lucy). Private funeral arrangements entrusted to AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen St., New Bedford.
