Henry Paul Liboiron Medicine Hat, Alberta Obituary

Henry Paul Liboiron

Henri Paul (Bobby) and Yvonne Liboiron both passed away peacefully at their home at Sunny Side at the age of 94 years. Bobby passed away January 17, 2021 and Yvonne followed the love of her life passing on January 19, 2021. A “story book” love story, they spent 73 years together as man and wife and not much time spent apart before reuniting in heaven. The couple lived most of their married life in Ponteix, SK until they moved to Medicine Hat in 1998 to be closer to family. We were never sure how Henri became to be known as Bobby but that’s how everyone knew him. He was born in the district of Gouveneur by Ponteix, Sask. on June 16, 1926. He was predeceased by his parents; 11 siblings; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Bobby will be remembered for being a school bus driver and then custodian at the school in Ponteix. He loved camping, fishing and “wheeling and dealing”. He was a strong man who had many health issues but always seemed to bounce back stronger then ever. Bobby loved his family and was constantly keeping us on our toes with ideas he would come up with. He always boasted that Anna was his favorite daughter-in- law…guess it was safe as she was the only one. Yvonne was a gentle, petite, loving lady. Born March 12, 1926 in Gravelbourg Sask. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bobby; her parents; 12 siblings; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Grandma taught herself to sew and could make beautiful outfits and blankets from old clothes or scraps. She loved to bake and cook…we can still taste her apple pies and cream puffs. She stayed at home to raise their family then worked at the Convent and Foyer St Joseph in Ponteix. Yvonne had a heart of gold and loved her family unconditionally. When she didn’t agree with one of Bobby’s ideas she’d always say, “I put my foot down but he put his foot over mine and his is bigger”. Unfortunately, mom developed dementia and it worsened over the years. As her dementia progressed, they had to be separated but they were in the same building and grandpa would go down and see her everyday. In later years, they were placed in the same unit and they would spend time in grandpa’s room together. It was not uncommon to see them sitting together holding hands, a true testament of the love they had for one another. Bobby and Yvonne leave behind to cherish their memory their four children, Roger, Adele (Maurice) Laventure, Irene Wilson, Emile (Anna Marie) Liboiron; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Vaagen, Lina (Ben) Weeks, Celine (Rodney) Danko, Carolyn (Brennan) Oliver, Damien Wilson, Anita Wilson, Michael (Nicole) Liboiron, and Joel (Tammy) Liboiron; 15 great-grandchildren; five of Yvonne’s siblings; numerous brothers and sisters-in law; as well as many friends. We would like to thank the staff at Haven and the Sunny Side Nursing home for the years of care and compassion they provided. We are forever grateful. A wise person once told me, “you never say good-bye for good-bye is forever, instead you say see you later”. All our love, we miss you. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat T1A 1Z5 with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Interment will take place at SAAMIS PRAIRIE VIEW CEMETERY. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions the service will be by family invitation only.
