“Round Earth Woman”

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful sister, wife, and auntie to so many, Esther Cameron on Monday, January 25, 2021, at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 70 years.

Esther will be sadly missed by her longtime partner Willy LaPorte and family, sisters Rowena Cameron and family, Hazel Ewanchuk and family, and Margaret Peltier and her children that Esther helped to raise.

Esther was well known by many people, she was a well-respected elder of Long Plain, did opening prayers and closing prayers for many organizations. She worked with Child and Family Services for many years, raised many boys and touched the hearts of many young men and ladies. Esther loved what she did, and would always welcome you into her home with smiles and hugs.

Wake will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 4:00 pm.  Feast and Service will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Friday, January 29, 2021 beginning at noon, followed by burial at Long Plain Cemetery.
