Sharon Marie Turley, 74, of Des Moines, passed away on January 24, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 9:30 am with mass following at 10:30 am. A private burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Sharon was born in Greeley, Nebraska, on January 22, 1947, to Louis and Marcella (Yilk) Dubas. She received her teaching degree from Creighton University. Sharon loved Latin and taught Latin and French at Lincoln High School. After teaching, she began a long career with the U.S. Postal Service. After retirement, Sharon loved to keep busy. Sharon loved reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church community her entire adult life. She enjoyed going to the Northside Senior Center where she met friends, exercised and participated in many other activities. She was very proud of her “Balance Award” that she received from her exercise class. Sharon is survived by her children: Bill (Amie Riddle) Turley, Betty (Steve Melone) Turley, and Marcella (Drew Mattes) Turley; siblings: SuzAnn Moore of Florida, Delores Uecker of Nebraska, Deborah Stahmer of California, and Rachel Wolf of Texas; grandchildren: Beatrice Turley, Paul Melone, and George Melone; nieces: Jana Whitmarsh and Sarah Amos and their families, and her daughter’s new puppy, Karl. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or Polk County Northside Senior Center.
