Earl Elvin Meckes, age 80 of Kunkletown passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township, Stroudsburg, PA. Earl was the loving husband of the late Joyce L. (Kintz) Meckes who passed away in July 15, 2010. He was born in Kunkletown on July 20, 1940, son of the late Adam and Beatrice (Kuehner) Meckes. Earl had worked as a heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local 542 in Bethlehem for 40 years until retiring. Earl was an avid hunter and enjoyed working as a mechanic on all his cars and equipment. Earl was a social butterfly and could go anywhere and people recognized him and started chatting. He was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Trachsville, the Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club in Kunkletown, The American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company in Albrightsville, Grundsow Lodge #6 in Kresgeville. Earl was also a former director and board member of the West End Fair Association. We have been blessed with the presence of Earl in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his grandson: Dustin Meckes and companion Kendra Smiley of Palmerton In addition to his wife Joyce, he was preceded in death by a son: Earl Eric Meckes, his brother Alton Meckes and his sister: Irene Hawk.
