Barbara H. (McDonald) Thomas, 86, of the Mountain Lake section in Belvidere, NJ passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, NJ. Barbara was born on March 26, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph Harold McDonald and the late Irene (Reid) McDonald. She resided in Mendham, NJ, Long Valley, NJ, Brick, NJ Chester, NJ, Succasunna, NJ, and before moving to Belvidere ten years ago. Barbara worked as an executive secretary for AM Best, Ed Merton Excavating, and Bay Shore Realtors, but enjoyed her time most working as a bookkeeper for her daughter’s flower shop, The Flower Patch Florist, in Chester. She relished her time down at the Jersey Shore, as well as Key West, Naples, and Marathon, Florida. One of her favorite things to do was to travel around the country with her husband in their motorhome, seeing all the sights along the way. Barbara’s passion in life was, far and away, her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three devoted children, Edward Thomas and fiancé Jennifer Spencer, Joseph Thomas and wife Elizabeth Bozzuffi Thomas and Cheryl Freeman, and six loving grandchildren, Justen Freeman and wife Kristin, Katlyn Moorhouse and husband Sean, Catherine Kushch and husband Kirill, Julian Thomas and fiancé Melissa Stalb, Angela Vogler and husband Vincent, Edward Thomas, and Dane Thomas; six cherished great-grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor, Aviana, Jack, Vinny, and Ava; her loving sister, Carol Briggs and her husband William; sisters-in-law’s, Erla Ambrose, Alberta Gallagher and her husband Ed, and by many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward “Bish” Thomas; and two siblings, Joseph McDonald and Joan Hughson. Barbara’s Life Celebration services and interment will be held privately by her family. They would like to thank everyone for their unconditional love and support during this most difficult time.
