Sister Janice Molloy (Sr. Elizabeth James), 96, beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, died at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield on January 24, 2021 A native of Auburn, MA, she was the daughter of James and Gertrude (Daley) Molloy. Sister Janice entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield from St. Joseph Parish in Auburn in 1943. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester and earned a B.A. degree from The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, MA. Sister taught at St. Thomas the Apostle and Immaculate Conception Schools in West Springfield and Holy Name School in Springfield. The majority of Sr. Janice’s teaching career, was at Cathedral High School in Springfield where she served as biology teacher in the Science Department for forty years. Sister is a 2013 recipient of the St. Joseph Award given by Cathedral High School for her outstanding commitment to CHS. Upon retirement Sister Janice resided at St. Joseph Residence at Mont Marie in Holyoke before moving to West Springfield. In addition to her Sisters in Community, Sr. Janice leaves to cherish her memory her dear friend Barbara Begley and generations of beloved nephews, nieces, cousins. Sister is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: her brothers John, Edmund, Donald, Robert and Paul and her sisters Mary Sullivan, Kathleen Molloy and Elizabeth Molloy SSJ (Sr. James Gertrude). Services for Sr. Janice will be held January 27, 2021. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m.at Mont Marie Cemetery in Holyoke. A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke, with Covid protocols observed.
