Constancia Gomez Acosta Obituary

Constancia Gomez Acosta was born on August 14, 1933 in Pangasinan, Philippines to Felisa Cornel and Faustino Gomez. On April 25, 1953, she married Jose S. Acosta, Sr. in Pangasinan after he waltzed his way into her heart. They raised six children together in the Philippines and they immigrated their entire family to the Bay Area in 1978 in pursuit of the American dream. Constancia, endearingly called “Nanay” by her children and grandchildren, loved to sing. She was a proud member of the United Pangasinanes Association (UPA) choir for many years and also always jumped at the opportunity to sing her favorite songs, “Malinak Lay Labi'' and “Dahil sa’yo.” Nanay also loved to dance. You could often see her doing the electric slide or tango at all the family parties. And if you were looking for something sweet, Nanay would always bring her signature desserts to family gatherings. Most importantly, Nanay truly loved spending time with her family - whether it be shopping, eating at restaurants, or just singing karaoke in the living room. She was the heart and soul of our family. Constancia is finally reunited with her husband Jose S. Acosta, Sr., her son, Judy G. Acosta, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her five other children, Lito G. Acosta, Julio G. Acosta, Josie G. Acosta, Jun G. Acosta, Jr., and Joel G. Acosta, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. May she rest peacefully in heaven. A private mass will be held in the Church of Epiphany followed by her burial at Holy Cross on that same day.
