Edward J Chandler Obituary

Edward J. Chandler, 96, of Weeki Wachee, Florida and Plainville, Massachusetts, passed away on January 21, 2021 in Hudson, Florida.

Edward was born on February 9, 1924 to John and Cecelia (Kedzierska) Cichonski in Detroit, Michigan.  After graduating from Perth Amboy High School in New Jersey, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific aboard PT 180 during WW II. 

After his discharge he attended Ohio University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  He also earned his small aircraft pilot’s license.

Shortly after graduation, he was recalled to active duty and served on the USS Columbus (CA74) during the Korean War.

His professional career as an industrial engineer included positions with Westinghouse and General Motors.  He retired as Manager of the Industrial Engineering Department of the Okonite Company in Rumford, Rhode Island after 25 years of service in 1986.  During retirement he enjoyed playing golf, travelling, playing cards, live theater, polka music, live racing, telling jokes and spending time with family and friends.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was also a public servant on the Town Planning Board in Seekonk, Massachusetts.  

Edward is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Irene.  He is survived by his sons, Mark (Susan) of North Attleboro, MA and Peter (Deirdre) of Albuquerque, NM; and his grandchildren: Michael, Jeffrey, Brenna and Samuel.

A private burial will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
