Lyle Scheel was born in Sarpy County, Nebraska on April 14, 1924. He was the son of Paul Reinhardt Scheel and Marie (Wegener) Scheel. He was the youngest child in the family and had two brothers and one sister. Lyle was raised and educated in Sarpy County. In 1940, he moved with his parents to a farm northeast of Creston. On February 28, 1949, Lyle was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Hepler in Waterloo, Iowa. After their marriage, Lyle and Dorothy made their home northeast of Creston where Lyle resided for 71 years. One daughter, Linda was born to bless this union. Lyle had a passion for farming and was even able to help with the harvest in the Fall of 2020. Lyle had a strong faith and was a faithful member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. Preceding Lyle in death was his wife, Dorothy in 2007; his brothers: Fred Scheel and Rainhard (wife Wilda) Scheel; his sister, Alice (husband Fred) Sturzenegger; and his parents. Lyle is survived by his daughter, Linda (husband Richard) Hadley of Creston and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
