Wayne A. "Butch" Hongisto Obituary

Wayne A. “Butch” Hongisto, 64, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Mercy Hospital – Washington. Butch was born in Wakefield, MI, December 19, 1956, the son of Norman Chester and Marian Rose (Jiongo) Hongisto. He graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1975. Two years later, Butch was united in marriage to Marilyn Ruth Davis. To this union one daughter and four sons were born: Shannon, Jarrett, Justin, Nikolai and Nathan. Butch worked as a machinist all of his working life. He enjoyed trapping, gunsmithing, and spending time with his grandkids. Butch loved his children, but he loved his grandkids even more. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends. Butch is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hongisto, of Sullivan; his five children: Shannon Sanders and husband, Aaron, of Leasburg, MO, Jarrett Hongisto and wife, Mandy, of Strain Japan, MO, Justin Hongisto and wife, Kim, of Union, MO, Nikolai Hongisto and wife, Amanda, of Sullivan, MO, and Nathan Hongisto and wife, Angela, of Sullivan, MO; seven grandchildren: Alesia, Magen, Chase, Morgan, Micah, Luke, and Logan Hongisto; four sisters: Gayle Gawer of Sullivan, MO, Joanne Bott and husband, Lewis, of Bourbon, MO, Carol Hardaway and husband, Joe, of Helena, AL, and Lisa Massey and husband, Brad, of Leasburg, MO; two brothers-in-law, Howard Davis and wife, Mary, of Cuba, MO, and Bob Davis and wife, Marge, of Sullivan, MO; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Marian Hongisto; and his parents-in-law, Raymond and Ruth (McCune) Davis. Cremation arrangements have taken place. A Celebration of Life Gathering is being planned for a later date.
