N. Harold Martin Obituary

N. Harold Martin, age 80, of Chambersburg, PA was released into the presence of Jesus by his family on Friday, January 22, 2021.

He was born May 3, 1940 in Marion, PA to the late Rev. Norman H. Martin and the late Elizabeth (Eshleman) Martin.

He attended Marion Elementary School and graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School in 1958. Harold was a long time member of the Cedar Street Mennonite Church Chambersburg, where he served as Sunday School teacher, elder, trustee and more recently he attended the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church. He also served on the Board of Directors of Menno Haven, Penn Hall.

He worked his entire career at E.L.M. Dept. Store in Greencastle becoming owner in 1984 and retiring in 2010. From a young age he enjoyed creating things from wood and spent many hours in his wood shop. His family is enjoying his gifts that he made. His happy places to visit were Maine in the fall, Florida in the winter and West Virginia in the summer.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte (Baer) Martin; children, Dean (Marlane) Martin of Chambersburg, Vaughn (Amy) Martin of Mars, PA, Kendra (Brent) Stains of Chambersburg, Jan (Deanna) Martin of Greencastle; twelve grandchildren, Dustin, Andrea, Trevor, Rachel, Jennifer, Garrett, Jonah, Lauren, Courtney, Heather, Carina, Kiefer; six great-grandchildren, one brother, Lester E. (Ruth) Martin of Greencastle; two sisters, Frances Diller of Greencastle and Lorraine Eby of Chambersburg.

A memorial service will be held on Monday January 25 at 11:00 AM at the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church Family Life Center 24 East Kauffman Rd. Chambersburg with Pastors Casey Hurst and Darrell Baer officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Lyme Alliance 235 Leedy Way West Chambersburg, PA 17202. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
