WILLIAM HERSHELL CARTER Westminster – William Hershell Carter, 73, husband of Louise Arve Carter, passed away Thursday, January 21st, 2021, at his residence. He was a native of Oconee County and was the son of the late Robert Carter and Inez Taylor Carter Holland. William retired from the Torrington/Koyo Plant, served with the National Guard, was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and had a great love and joy for vacation bible school. William enjoyed working outside in his garden and had a passion for handy woodwork. He is survived by his wife, Louise Arve Carter, a son, Brian Carter of Westminster; and a sister, Retha Carter Grice. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by a brother, Gene Carter; sisters, Florene Nealy, Eva Brown, Vada Smith, and Mildred Miller. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, January 25th, 2021, at the Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Carter will lie in state 12 pm – 5pm, Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family is their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, the family is wishing for memorial’s in William’s memory be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 112 Mt. Pleasant Road, Westminster, SC 29693.
