Mildred Joyce Clark, 87, of Litchfield, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her home. She was born October 5, 1933 in Albion to Perry and Mary (Winchcomb) Kidder. She married Artemas Clark on May 29, 1954 and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2016. Mildred was a first grade teacher at Litchfield Community Schools for 36 years. She had graduated from Albion High School, went on to earn her Associates Degree from Western Michigan University and her Bachelor’s from Spring Arbor University. In 1994 she was awarded Hillsdale County Teacher of the Year. She was also a former member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Mildred was an avid collector and member of the Litchfield Doll Club. She also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, camping at Potawatomie Campground and also enjoyed wintering in McAllen, TX. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and all her extended family. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Foster of Concord; sons, Michael (D’Andra) Clark of Hillsdale, Artemas Clark, Jr. of Jackson, Kenneth (Barbara) Clark of Milford and Steven (Elizabeth) Clark of Litchfield; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Artemas; grandson, Benjamin Clark; great-grandson, Scott Haskins; 11 brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law, Darlene Clark. Public visitation for Mildred Clark will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 from 2-6 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield. Funeral and graveside services will be private with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. Memorial contributions are suggested to Litchfield Community Schools Alumni Association.
