Karen Cook Obituary

Karen Ann Cook was born August 27, 1949 in Ontario, Oregon. She was the oldest child of Joe and Margie Cook. She spent several years in New Plymouth, Idaho where her younger brother and sister were also born. The family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1957 where Karen began to attend Sacred Heart Elementary School. Karen was a part of the first class that went from freshman year to senior year of Bishop Kelly. Once she graduated high school she attended Lady Catherine’s Beauty School and graduated with her cosmetology license. She later on would become a teacher for a cosmetology school. On August 22, 1970 she married her first husband, Lamar Childs, and the following summer they welcomed their first child, J.D. Eleven months later they were greeted by their second child, Steven “Steve”. September 6, 1973 the couple welcomed their third child Lonnie, into the world. The couple eventually split in 1986. She joined the family business at Overhead Door about 10 years after her high school graduation. She married Joseph “Joe” Bingham in 1993, and the couple gave birth to their only child, Adam Bingham, on August 28th of that year. Karen was with the family business until 2000 and began cleaning houses with her sister, Peg. She retired to take care of her parents in 2011. Karen passed away in her home on January 22, 2021 and joined her parents, Joe and Margie, and brother, Nick in heaven. She is survived by her siblings: Peg Cook and her wife, Linda VanSlyke, and Ron Cook, and her four sons: J.D. and his wife, Kelly Beltz, Steve and his wife, Cynthianna Childs, Lonnie, and Adam, as well as her 9 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. Even though she had four sons, there are many that knew her as Mom or grandma. She was a ray of light and happiness to everyone she encountered and will be greatly missed.
