Betty Tegethoff

De Soto – Betty Jo Tegethoff, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on February 26, 1935 to Ferdinand and Jeannetta (Davie) Humphrey in Carbondale. Betty married Bobby Joe Tegethoff on April 5, 1953. Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bobby; sons, David and wife Elizabeth Tegethoff and Douglas and wife Debbie Tegethoff of De Soto; daughter, Anita and husband Dennis Shirley of De Soto; brother Dick Humphrey of Zeigler; sister, Scherrie Eastwood of Marion; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister, Pamela. Betty was a member of De Soto United Methodist Church; and Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in De Soto. She was a devout Christian her entire life. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Associated Lumber in Carbondale for over 20 years. Later she worked for SIH in Carbondale. She retired in 2005 to spend more time with her family. Betty loved to travel, often to Baton Rouge, LA, to attend Jimmy Swaggart camp meetings. Funeral Services for Betty will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January, 25, 2021 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Susan Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Due to COVID-19 face masks and social distancing are required.
