<p><br /> Willie Charles Booker was born August 12, 1943 in West Point, Mississippi to the union of the late C.D. Booker and Augusta Booker.&nbsp;&nbsp;He departed this life January 22, 2021 at Diversicare of Oak Ridge, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was one of &quot;The Oak Ridge 85&quot; students who made history attending an Oak Ridge School during desegregation.&nbsp;W.C. worked various jobs including at&nbsp;Planned Parenthood,&nbsp;TVA and ORAU.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was a member of New York Avenue Church of Christ and&nbsp;was an avid sports fan especially football.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /> Preceded in death by his&nbsp;son, Curtis A. Booker; father,&nbsp;C. D. Booker; mother, Augusta Booker Burnette; sisters, Lois A. Booker Kirk and Vickie L. Booker, and brother, Willie T. Booker.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Left to cherish his loving memory: three sons: Kelvin Eric Booker, Oliver Springs, TN, David Caldwell and Geoffrey (Tyra) Lee, Clinton, TN; two daughters, Karen (Kelton) Holmes, Oak Ridge, TN and Natasha Smith, Memphis, TN;&nbsp;thirteen&nbsp;grandchildren and nine great grandchildren;&nbsp;three brothers, Herbert C. (Sheila) Booker, James (Rhonda) Booker, Oak Ridge, TN, and Perry Booker, Knoxville, TN; four sisters, Mary E. Booker, Geneva Booker, Oak Ridge, TN, Lynn (Greg) Booker Patterson and Tracy Booker, Chattanooga, TN; five uncles, Walter (Martha) Spraggins, Gardena, CA, Ernest Spraggins, Chicago, IL, George Booker, Toledo, OH, Pete Booker and Hargel&nbsp;&nbsp;Booker, Muskegon, MI; three aunts, Eloisa Baskins, Chicago, IL, Lou Dean Holliday, West Point, MS, and Minerva Booker, Kentwood, MI; devoted cousins, Sam Bell and Charlie Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.<br /> <br /> Friday, January 29, 2021, A graveside service at 12:30 p.m. Oak Ridge Memorial Park, 1501 Bethel Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN.&nbsp; A white dove release will conclude the service.&nbsp;&nbsp;During this time, we will remain in compliance with the Governor&rsquo;s Executive Order No. 17 (COVID-19). we had several classes together through our  years at ORHS.  i remember Willie as always easy going and a ready smile.  though i hadn't seen him for several years, I was always glad to call him my friend.  my prayers to the family.  rest in peace, Willie.
