Shelia Louise Epps, daughter of the late Mildred and Lawrence Epps. Shelia was born on May 11, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. Shelia departed life suddenly on January 18, 2021 to join her mother and father.

Who was Shelia? Shelia was a person who was loved/cared by many and certainly family. At a young age, Shelia was first introduced to Christ, and baptized as a child, keeping her faith with God throughout life. As a child, Shelia was known to be friendly and witting, always active and involved. During those years, Shelia developed various hobbies and talents that transition into her adulthood that consists of eating good food; socializing, cooking, planting and singing.

As Shelia evolved, Shelia became a very outspoken and bold person who was most expressive and very upfront who she remained to be until she was called into eternal life. Shelia was also smart, humorous, caring, an advocator, and someone who did not give up easily her on beliefs/values. Shelia was additionally good at giving advice and carrying out lively conversations with others, which fascinated her. Above all, Shelia loved being among family and friends, often being present at family gatherings, yet equally being a part of the social life, “being the life of the party”. Shelia also had a big love for Jazz music once singing with a music group. Despite Shelia’s joy to be among family/friends, she also loved collecting Oriental/African Art.

Shelia’s accomplishments in life. Shelia went on to receive her education in the Baltimore City Public School Systems, receiving her high school diploma from Frederick Douglass High School. Shelia was able to earn some college education in the major of Business Education, attending Baltimore City Community and Anne Arundel Community Colleges. Shelia received many accolades and certificates of appreciate throughout her years of employment even while earning her college education. Interestingly, Shelia was able to receive a special certificate of appreciate from former Governor- William Donald Schafer. Shelia was first employed at the World-Famous Lexington Market. Years after, Shelia was able to work for NASA for a short period of time. Shelia later pursued her career, working at the State of Maryland Unemployment Office, supervising staff. Retiring after 20+ years from the State of Maryland Unemployment Office. Shelia then worked a short period of time at the Maryland Department of Transportation- MTA as an investigator. Years after working at the Maryland Transit Administration, Shelia continued to work other various jobs until she finally accepted retirement.

She then resumed her early in life hobbies of planting; decorating her house; being a collector and savoring in the social life until her call into eternal life.

“Shelia”, was a very outgoing and overall great person with a good heart who had great intentions. Those who closely knew Shelia are going to miss her dearly, but can now remember her in their own unique way.

Shelia’s legacy and memory will live on in her two sisters, Paula Chase and Barbara Williams; two brothers, Wayne and Michael Epps; a sister-in-law, Mercedes Epps and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends, and special companion-cat (Motts).
