Louise “Lou” Jamison Fontaine, age 90, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021 at her home.

She was born November 17, 1930 in Port Smith, Ohio to the late Charles Jamison and Arzona Hook Jamison Ingles.

Lou was well known, much loved member of the Pascagoula community. Lou was actively involved in St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church in Gautier working to help establish and provide for the growth and maintenance of the Parish for many years as well as serving alongside the Parish’s women in the Daughters of the King. She was known for her deep dedication to her faith community and service to others. Lou also worked with the Republican Women of Jackson County. As an active member of the Republican Party, she was able to meet with several of our nation’s Presidents to include Nancy and Ronald Reagan, George and Barbara Bush, and George and Laura Bush. Lou was also a member of the Anola Club of Pascagoula and was very involved with Mississippi Artist Guild, National Women of the Arts, as well as the Singing River Chorale group. Lou had a deep love for the arts which she supported throughout her life. While residing in Mt. Dora, Florida, Lou was the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce. After moving to Mississippi, Lou worked alongside her husband as the owners of LaFont Inn in Pascagoula.

Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglass L. Fontaine, Sr., her sons, David Cooper and Carl Cooper, grand son Noah Cooper, and her step-son Douglas L. Fontaine, Jr.

Lou is survived by her sister Wanda Huffer, grandchildren, Kalin Sue Cooper and Ryan Louise Cooper, great-grandchildren Slade Morse, Traevon Cooper, Isaiah Evans and Makayla Quashie, step-children Patrick (Amanda) Fontaine, Rebecca Fontaine Schaaf, Jo Anne Fontaine and their children, Douglass Fontaine III, Christian Fontaine, Elizabeth (Stephen) Fontaine Bucken, Conor Daugherty, Taylor Williams, Wesley Fontaine and Sydney Fontaine

. For the past eight years Lou was cared for by Jane Hickson, RN who loved her like family. Thank you to Lou’s daily care givers, Patricia Jackson, Kim Bailey, Ida Bush and Sabrina Covan for their care and support given during her illness.

Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, there will be a Graveside service only at Machpelah Cemetery on Friday January 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. John Switzer officiating. Pallbearers will be Patrick Fontaine, Douglas Fontaine III, Wesley Fontaine, Jay Fontaine, Harry McBride and Larry Fowler.
