Elizabeth Anton Obituary

Elizabeth Daniels Anton passed away on January 22, 2021.

Born September 30, 1932, Elizabeth was the daughter of Grace and Harold Daniels. She spent most of her childhood in southern New Jersey and upstate New York and went on to graduate from Douglass College with a BA in English and Theatre and Tufts University with a MA in Theatre.

As a young woman, she worked as an actress off-Broadway and actress and director in various summer stock companies on the East Coast.  She then went on to work as a member of the Theatre faculty at Maryville College in Tennessee, Douglass College, The University of Delaware, and Temple University, and served as director of Drama at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts

She married and moved to St. Davids, Pennsylvania, and raised a family and lived there for 38 years. Later in life, she received an MA in Holistic Spirituality from Chestnut Hill College and focused her work on interfaith dialogue and in learning how various spiritual traditions not only can inform a personal spiritual practice but also help to effect necessary social change in turbulent times. She also enjoyed good movies, good food, good conversation, a good laugh, and kind words.

She moved to the Crosslands community in Kennett Square in 2003 where she received extraordinary comfort in independent living, overlooking rolling hills that reminded her of the New Jersey farmland of her childhood and later extraordinary care as she fell ill.

She was a graceful and brilliant person, always lively and enthusiastic, who lived her life with deep integrity.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Sarah, son Frederick and his partner Sigrid Frandsen, her cousin Leon Jordan and his wife Shirley and their family, and an extended network of chosen family including, Leigh and Elliot Jacobs.

A private virtual remembrance service will be held with close family and friends while her children visit their grandparents' graveside. We hope to gather in-person to inter some of her ashes after the pandemic. Her children invite all who knew their Mom to take a moment to remember her on Saturday, January 30th at 10 am by finding a song or poem that brings you comfort or reminds you of her.
