HILDA ANN SOSTAR

SOSTAR, Hilda Ann (nee Janzen) – July 23, 1945 – January 21, 2021. It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Hilda surrounded by her loving family at her residence. Beloved wife and best friend of Steve Sostar. Amazing mother of Scott, Suanne (and Gerrit) deCroos. Cherished Gramma of Maarten, and Annika. Dear sister of John (and the late Diane), Jake (and Martha), and David Janzen. Hilda will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by brother George (and Jean) Janzen, brothers-in-law Edward (and Helen), Amo (and Ann) Sostar. Hilda spent many hours knitting and crocheting scarves, shawls and many other things for friends and family with blankets being her grandchildren’s favourites. Hilda volunteered many hours with Carrie Alexandria McCall I.O.D.E donating her time with schools locally, in Labrador and with Camp Trillium. Hilda also volunteered assisting and supporting students in a variety of schools. Hilda, through I.O.D.E., along with Eric DeSerranno of the OPP, started the Child ID Program which involved adding fingerprints and other information from the parents about their child to have in a book in case of emergency. When Hilda wasn’t volunteering her time, she loved to spend her time with family and tending to her flower gardens. Due to COVID-19 19 restrictions the family will have a Celebration of Hilda’s life in the future. As expressions of sympathy the family would appreciate donation to Waterford Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake or your favourite local charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford, 519-443-5332. www.thompsonmottfuneralhome.com.
