George Harry Nelson September 30, 1931 – January 19, 2021 George was a gentle sweet soul born to Harry Horton and Ellen (Stewart) Nelson on the road from Byemoor to Castor, Alberta as his mother didn’t make it to the hospital destination. He always promised to take his family to that site so they could see the rock he was born under. George loved children as is witnessed by the many he fathered and gathered to himself to nurture and love. He was a heavy equipment operator by trade, loved to garden and work with horses. When he was young his family moved him to a Rocky Mountain House homestead. In 1986 he took his own family back to the prairie area of Stettler, Big Valley and Drumheller til he passed away. George is survived by his wife Patricia A. (Edmison) Nelson; children: Kathleen Prather, Craig Nelson, Garth Nelson, Stacey Link, Micheal Nelson, Hallie Jans; plus chosen and shared children: Catherine MacIntyre; Bonnie St Jean and Jennifer Nelson; grandchildren: Justin Fisher, Summer Corey, Molly Nelson, April Nelson, Kristen MaCallum, Brett Pickford, Nicholas Pickford, Micheal Pickford, Amber Hermus, Calley Geo Rhondeau, Travis Nelson, Quinn Nelson, Grace Nelson, Rhys Nelson, Keagan Jans, Dustin Jans, Dayton Jans, Georgia Jans; chosen and shared grandchildren: Faye Keibel, Trinity MacIntyre, Faith MacIntyre, Cheyanne, Chris and Curtis St Jean; twenty great grandchildren; as well as many, much loved spouses, partners and companions of these desendents. George is pre-deceased by parents Harry and Ellen Nelson; daughters Georgina Nelson and Sandra Pickford; granddaughter Kimberly Ann Pickford. A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date.
