David J. Sigman Belford, New Jersey Obituary

David J. Sigman

David J. Sigman, 47, of Old Bridge, passed away Thursday, January 21st, at Bayshore Community Hospital. David was loving, thoughtful, kind and everyone was drawn to him. Every time he was in a store someone would start a conversation with him. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 8, 1973, a son of Iris and Mark Sigman. David's family moved to New Jersey when he was a child and David was raised in Spotswood. After marrying, David and Heather lived in Wenonah and the South Jersey area for about 9 years before settling in Old Bridge 6 years ago. David attended St. John's University and went on to work in the mattress industry managing stores, managing districts and then moving on to lead the charge with launching the 1-800 mattress franchising arm. When they moved to Old Bridge he selflessly became a stay at home dad to take care of his three children. He loved watching all sports and all through school he was a soccer goalie who had the opportunity to play in London. He was a Jets fan, rooted for the Mets and enjoyed watching St. John's University Basketball games, but his favorite sport was soccer. He was an avid Manchester United fan and probably the biggest and proudest fan of his daughters', Hailey and Brooklynn who play soccer. David looked forward to their games and helping them practice. When David was not with his family, he could often be found smoking cigars and shooting the breeze with his friends. David enjoyed collecting cigar memorabilia and even started a Cigar page on Instagram the_real_cigar_lovers_of_ig. David had a deep love for his family and friends with a zest for life. David was a creative artist who more recently began drawing charactures of famous people. He also enjoyed collecting sports memoriabla and many famous peoples' autographs. The last selfless act he could do was donate his kidneys, so that he could save two other people's lives.

David is survived by his wife of 14 years, Heather Sigman and their three children; Bryana, Brooklynn, and Hailey, all of Old Bridge. He also leaves behind his parents, Iris and Mark Sigman, and two brothers Eric Sigman of VA and Shaun Sigman of Old Bridge along with many extended family members and truly dear friends.

Friends and family may pay their respects at a Memorial Drive-by on Saturday, January 23rd from 11- 1pm or 3-5pm.
