Marilyn Joyce Cook

Marilyn J. Cook age 85, of Delavan, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan not long after being in the presence of her loving children. Marilyn finished school in South Dakota and then moved to Wisconsin to raise her family where she enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter and lounging by the pool in the summer. She loved to travel and would often return to South Dakota to show her children the beauty of her home state. While in Delavan, Marilyn worked at Citizen’s Bank, Sportsman’s Park, The Village Supper Club and Ralph’s Steakhouse where she would greet folks with a smiling face and friendly personality. Later in life she would spend many of her days caring for her great-grandchildren Eli and Keller. She was born on March 8, 1935 in Belle Fouche, SD to the late Burney and Helen (Shoener) Bagby. Marilyn is survived by her children Gregory (Denise) Cook, Thomas (Carrie) Cook and Connie (Robert) Hoffman; sister Janie Petrik, brothers-in-law Kenneth Gregory and Dennis Johnson. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Burney and Helen, son James, sisters Carol & Phyliss and brother-in-law Stan. Visitation will be held at the Betzer Family Funeral Home (118 S. 2nd St, Delavan) on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. Marilyn’s earthly remains will be spread among the rolling landscape of the Black Hills in South Dakota whereas a child she would love to play and as an adult she would often dream to return. Betzer-Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home of Delavan, WI is proudly serving the family.
