Gloria M. Evans

Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother – Gloria Mary Patrick Evans went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 21st, 2021. Gloria was preceded in death by her devoted and greatly loved parents; John Patrick and Mary Hresko-Patrick of Dunmore, P.A. She was the loving wife to her husband, Edward J. Evans and his constant companion in life for over 61 years. She was a loving and caring mother to her three children – Maryellen Evans, Edward Evans, and Kelly Evans-Canfield along with her husband Dennis. She helped to raise and shared a special unbreakable bond with her eldest granddaughter, Gloria Domiziano along with her husband Frank and her great grandchildren Frank Peter, Sofia Rose, Nicholas Edward, and John Patrick. She was also the beloved grandmother to her son's children, Christian Evans and Allison Evans-Fagelman, and to her daughter's son, Thomas Evan Canfield whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her brothers John Patrick with his wife Kathy and their children and Thomas Patrick with his wife Sue and their children. She also leaves behind numerous loving friends. Gloria was born and raised in Dunmore, P.A. where she graduated from Dunmore High School and completed advanced classes in business. She then went on to teach at the International School of Business. Upon marriage to her husband, Ed, they moved to Binghamton, N.Y. where she worked for Link Aviation, then later she worked for Sears Roebuck where she eventually retired. Her constant smile, friendly and outgoing personality, and good will toward all people gained her many wonderful friendships throughout her lifetime. She maintained an unwavering faith in God and devotion to St. John-Andrews church, which guided her decisions during her life. She was a Eucharistic minister, lector, and active in first Holy Communion and confirmation instruction. She was a life-long member of the L.A.O.H. (Lady's Ancient Order of the Hibernians) in which she participated in many charitable and organized functions. She was an active member of the Conklin and First-Ward Senior Citizens Center, Sears Retirement Club, and several card/bunko clubs. For many years she enjoyed playing tennis at the local club and helped to organize a group of women doubles players called "the Goddesses." She was an avid tennis fan, as well as a Yankees and Giants fan. Gloria travelled extensively with her husband, Ed, both nationally and internationally. Trips to Europe, especially Ireland and Italy were among some of her favorite memories. Most of all, Gloria loved to be with her grand and great-grandchildren. Her natural way of making most anyone feel welcome and at ease was one of her most beautiful qualities. She will be greatly missed and always cherished by both her family and friends. Gloria's family would like to thank Dr. Yalamanchili and the staff at Broome Oncology Associates for their expertise and compassionate care they provided Gloria and her family. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Mercy House for the love and compassion they showed throughout Gloria's final days. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley, Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760 in Gloria's name, as this beautiful facility is run on donations. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Vestal Avenue, Binghamton, Monday at 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Church of Saints John and Andrew, Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Parish of Saints John and Andrew Facebook page.

I remember Gloria over most of my life, from being the mom of my close friend to being a friend in her own right. She will be sorely missed.
