Myra L. Schafer of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Dale D. and Alta M. (White) Dunham on December 17, 1922 in Salem, Missouri. She left from this life, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at her home at the age of 98 years. Myra was united in marriage to Raymond E. Schafer on December 4, 1937 in Custer, Missouri. To this union five children were born Ronald, Donald, Beth, Debbie and Rosemary. Myra was the first female letter carrier for the Cuba Post Office. She and her husband Raymond worked for L.B. Price Mercantile Company for over 25 years. She was a longtime member of the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and helping take care of others in need. She loved to spend time with and spoil her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Myra is preceded in death by her parents Dale D. Dunham and Alta M. (White) Dausman; husband Raymond E. Schafer; one daughter Rosemary Schafer; one sister Helen McCarter; one great-grandson Zane Schafer. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her four children Ronald (June) Schafer of Grain Valley, Missouri, Donald (Anita) Schafer of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Beth (Marvin) Jett of Rolla, Missouri, Debbie (Curtis) Holt of Cuba, Missouri; ten grandchildren Rita (Pat) Johnson, Patricia Schafer, Ronald (Karin) Schafer, Christy (Trent) McKinley, David (Sherrard) Schafer, Summer Jett, April (Tom) Veo, Kimberly (Kevin) Gipson, Kelsey (Justin) Wigger, Kylie (Cody) Hodge; twenty-one great-grandchildren Holly Johnson, Sarah (Dante) Chandler, Zeb Schafer, Christopher (Lyndee) McKinley, Kaley (Clint) Johnson, Katie Schafer, Keegan (Jennifer) Schafer, Kendall Schafer, Emma and Ethan Weinbaum, Ella, Noah and Addison Veo, Conner, Levi, Braden and Nicholas Gipson, Jaden, Mya, Leah and Cohen Schmidt; five great-great-grandchildren Analise, Letty, Lorna and Layla Johnson, Max Schafer. Due to the current COVID Pandemic, a private family visitation and funeral service will be held, with her grandson David Schafer officiating. Interment will follow at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Schafer family.
