Anthony “Bucky” Bianco, 88, of Beechview passed away peacefully in Florida, with his son Jay and daughter-in-law, Bev, at his side, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Adored father of John "Jay" (Beverly) Bianco, Adele (Dirk) Horstman, Louis and Daniel Polito, Christopher Zimmerman, Marlo and Mark Miller, Randy (Cathy) and Paul (Claudia) Ziegler, and Kimmy (Bob) Marmion. Dear brother of Robert “Bobby” Bianco and Bernadette (Andy) Tumicki, and the late Catherine “Kitty” Magnotta and Samuel “Tore” Bianco. Cherished and proud Pappy of 13 granddaughters and 5 grandsons, and great-grandfather of 8 great-granddaughters and 11 great-grandsons, with 1 great-grandson on the way. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Anthony was born to John and Adele Bianco, on April 23, 1932, in their Beechview home. His father called him his “little Buckaroo” and it stuck. Bucky grew up as a neighborhood advocate. If you wanted to know anything about Beechview, he’d be the person to talk to. Known to be a fantastic, humorous storyteller, Bucky loved to write and enthusiastically contributed stories to the Beechview Historical Society and authored an unpublished manuscript titled, “Old Wives Tale”. He was a dedicated member of St. Catherine’s Church, a lifetime member and past governor of the Beechview Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed visiting the Brew on Broadway and other local businesses. Bucky was passionate about flowers, gardening, writing, and math. The neighborhood kids will always remember the beautiful duck pond on his property that served as a secondary park. He loved giving out candy on Halloween to the many children who would come by his Shadycrest home of 60 years. Generous and giving, Bucky always had a smile and a story for you. Bucky graduated from St. Michael’s High School in 1949, and went on to Penn State, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. Sixty-five years ago, he became a member of IBEW Local Union #5. He started out as an electrician’s helper with his dad and then completed his apprenticeship as a journeyman wireman.  He was a charter member of the IBEW L.U. #5 Federal Credit Union where he later served as President for more than 30 years. He initiated the union’s golf club, worked on the local union’s examining board in their apprentice program, and was very active in the annual Labor Day Parade. He lived a busy, but enjoyable life that was full of many accomplishments. He was Scoutmaster for Pack 100, and even a judge for Miss USA in 1965! In 1974, he was given the recognition of “Best Steeler Fan” and received a bottle of champagne from Steelers head coach, Chuck Noll! His best accomplishment, however, was being such a wonderful blessing to everyone that he met. He claims to have coined the phrase, “You always wanna be somewhere ya ain’t.” often saying it in jest, reminding us that being in the present moment is where all the action is. He will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh., PA 15216. Burial to follow in Chartiers Cemetery. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral home is following all CDC and PA State guidelines. Therefore, facial masks are required while visiting in the building.
