Joyce Lavon Guymon, 92, passed away January 21, 2021, at her home in Danville.  Visitation will be from Noon – 1pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Central Christian Church, 1101 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.  Service will be at 1pm, with burial at Sunset Cemetery to follow.  IDPH Guidelines will be strictly followed regarding gathering limitations, masks, and social distancing. 

Joyce was born February 23, 1928, along with her twin sister June.  They were the daughters of George Fulton and Daisy (Cunningham) Fulton.  Joyce attended Liberty Grade School and Danville High School, where she graduated in 1946.  At 92, she continued to meet with members of her graduating class.

Joyce married Melvin “Bud” Guymon, August 1, 1948.  Together, they traveled the U.S. giving demonstration for “Dogs for the Deaf”, as to how trained hearing dogs could change lives.  She enjoyed her many friends through their memberships in Chamco/Sams and TWT camping clubs.

Joyce was a secretary/bookkeeper for many years.  She was a faithful member of Central Christian Church and active in Disciples Women, where she shared her bookkeeping skills for many years as treasurer.  She was also a volunteer for “Faith in Action”.

Joyce was the family historian, sharing her personal knowledge and research.  She enjoyed countless friendships, flower gardening, butterflies, sunsets and all of nature. 

Joyce is survived by her daughter Jane (Robert) Carter of Danville, granddaughter Michelle (Mike) Lewis of Florida, grandson Jason (Karen) Guymon of Vermont, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and her special little sister Linda Ferreira of Oregon.

Preceding Joyce were her parents, husband “Bud”, her son Michael (Linda) Guymon, sister June Moll, and brother Glenn (Camie) Fulton.

She and we express our appreciation to all of her family and friends who made her so happy with calls, cards, and visits.  Special thanks to friends who lovingly helped in her care, Anna Beth Gilmour, Nancy Owen, Sandy Edwards, and their husbands.  OSF Hospice provided wonderful care and support for both Joyce and her family.
