Barbara Shockley

Barbara McNeill Shockley, 83, of the Martha Franks Retirement Community in Laurens, wife of the late James ‘Donald’ Shockley, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Prisma Health in Laurens. She was born in Abbeville to the late Lowry Wilson McNeill and Macy Campbell McNeill. Mrs. Shockley attended Sharon High School. She was employed in textiles for many years with Milliken, Bloomsburg, and Jockey. Mrs. Shockley was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church in Abbeville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Francis McNeill. Mrs. Shockley is survived by a son, Buddy Burdette (Lynn) of Donalds; a daughter, Judy Miller (Dwayne) of Hickory, NC; a brother, Gene McNeill (Ellen) of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Brad, Brandon, Adam, Brian, and Casey; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Jeremy Beauford officiating. Those wishing to pay their respects may visit Harris Funeral Home on Friday, January 22, 2021 between the hours of 10:00AM – 5:00PM. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Shockley, may be sent to the charity of one’s choice. A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.harrisfuneral.com.
