Karen M Power

Karen (Moore) Power passed away on Thursday, January 21st, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born in Boston, MA in 1939, but lived most of her childhood in New Rochelle, NY. She met her husband, Dick (the boy next door) in 1956 and they were married in 1960. Karen loved to knit, crochet, play bridge and most importantly read. This love of reading resulted in her earning an associate degree in Library Technology form the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. No matter where Dick’s job for Bell Labs took them, Karen always found a way to work or volunteer in a library. They moved to Bridgewater in 1979, where they lived for 33 years. During that time, she became an office manager for BMF&R, a small executive search firm, for 18 years. After retirement, she continued her volunteering at Bridgewater Library as well as for the Red Cross in a number of capacities for over 17 years. She and Dick moved to Hillsborough in 2012 and Karen became involved with activities in her retirement community, as well as, in the Hillsborough Chapter B Seniors. Karen is predeceased by her Husband, Dick, her parents, Leo & Gertrude (Shippy) Moore, her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Rosemary Moore, her brother-in-law, Kevin Power, her nephew, T.J. Judge and her grandniece, Audry Judge. She is survived by her four children: Michael Power and his wife Joann, Noreen Tarletsky and her husband Chris, Jeanne Luke and her husband Chris, and Sean Power and his wife Jennifer, her eleven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Power) & Bill Cerruti, Kristin, Brendon and Connor Power; Eva and Alex Tarletsky; Ryan, Haley, and Maggie Luke; Nicole and Brian Power; her sister Monica Judge and her husband John; her sister-in-law SueAnn Power, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am on Monday, January 25th, at the Mary Mother of God Church, 157 S. Triangle, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611
