Cena was born November 3, 1949 in Roxas City, (Pilar) Capiz, Philippines to Ramon and Susana Catalan. Cena and her twin sister, Tess, had an amazing time harassing their many brothers and sisters as well as getting into the type of mischief only twins can manage. Cena met the love of her life, Dan, while he was stationed in the Philippines. When the United States Navy decided to change his orders, Dan obtained fiancé clearance for Cena and her son, Shelby. Dan and Cena were married August 18, 1984 in Provo, Utah. Cena worked hard to learn English and was able to get her United States citizenship after living in the United States for several years. Cena lived life to the fullest, she was a master party planner. She enjoyed cooking and made sure everyone was fed more than they could physically eat. She loved to joke and play around; her mischievous side often came out with her grandchildren. She had great rhythm and loved to dance with her family and friends. She passed her appreciation of music and Michael Jackson to her son and her grandchildren. Cena is survived by her son, Shelby (Melissa) of Payson; her three grandchildren, Nicole, Madison and Alli; her sister Tess; sister-in-law Cheryl; brothers-in-law Mike (Patty) and David; four siblings (residing in the Philippines) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her mother and father; siblings; in-laws; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses, respiratory therapists and doctors at Utah Valley Hospital for their selfless care of our loved one. A visitation/viewing will be held in her honor Monday, January 25th at 1:00 PM at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N University Ave, Provo, UT. Interment and a brief graveside service will be held at Provo City Cemetery, 610 S State St, Provo, UT, following the viewing.
