Francis X. Sirica, Sr., 90, of West Orange, N.J., passed away on January 21, 2021. The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Lincoln Park, N.J., with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Frank and Anna Sirica, Frank lived in Newark before settling in West Orange. His family owned a candy store next to Nathan’s on Coney Island where he worked prior to enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Coney Island is where Frank would meet his sweetheart and future wife, Theresa. He was employed as a metallurgist for over 30 years and by Western Pest Services, Parsippany, N.J., as their mail-room supervisor for 25 years until his retirement at age 82. Frank was lucky to have met wonderful and loyal friends at each of his jobs, and every person had a special place in his heart. Frank was a past member of UNICO and, up to 4 years ago, was on a bowling league with his son, Jim. He bowled a perfect 300 game at the age of 75. He enjoyed traveling, appreciating the journey as much as the destination, which always ended in North Carolina at the homes of his dear friends. He was a die-hard Yankees fan and savored watching games with his wife, Terry. Frank’s true joy in life was his family and friends. He celebrated his 90th birthday in August, where friends and family inundated him with birthday cards from all over. Frank said he lived 90 great years, and any extra time is icing on the cake. Summer barbecues and holidays will not be same without Frank. He loved his granddaughters more than anything, and he will be missed more than words can say. Predeceased by his son, Francis X. Sirica, Jr., sister, Gertrude Amunds, and grandnephew Michael Spagnuolo, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Theresa (nee: Tubello); loving son, James Sirica, devoted daughter-in-law, Christine; and cherished grandchildren, Kelsey, and her fiancé, Bruce Middleton, and Rachel Sirica, and grand-dog, Kona; special niece, Mary Rose Spagnuolo, and husband, Pat; treasured grandniece, Rosemary Glancy, and her husband, Brian; and adored great-grandnieces, Maranda and Avery Glancy; and the entire Schworn family who were his dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 216 Comly Rd., Lincoln Park, N.J. 07035, who prayed tirelessly for the Sirica family when Jim had COVID or The Chilton Medical Center Foundation, 97 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444, who provided the Sirica family with amazing care during both Jim and Frank’s hospital stays in 2020. Please make a note “In memory of Frank X. Sirica.” Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
