<p>It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Julien Altenburg at the age of 84.</p> <p>Julien was born March 11, 1936 in Ste. Rose du Lac MB to William and Roselie Altenburg.&nbsp; In 1954 he married Irene Ranville and together started a family.&nbsp; Residing in Dauphin MB he began his career in the construction trade where he was well regarded.&nbsp; Remaining there until their family had grown, they then relocated to Dryden Ontario for numerous years.&nbsp; The surrounding area supplied great hunting and fishing which he enjoyed very much.&nbsp; Retirement lured him back to his roots so he returned to Ste Rose du Lac MB in 2004 to live his remaining years.</p> <p>Predeceased by his parents William and Roselie, brother Germain (Gerry), sister-in-law Irene and grandson Cory.&nbsp;</p> <p>Left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife of 67 years Irene, children Henrietta (Brian), Harold (Wendy), John (Annette), Richard (Roxanne), Eric (Donna), David, Mark (Gloria), sister Evelyne, brothers Louis (Lorraine), Melvin (Sandra) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.</p> <p>The family would like to express their gratitude for the care given to Julien by the staff of the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home.</p> <p>Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Julien to the Alzheimer&#39;s Society of Manitoba.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>A graveside service will be held for Julien &amp; Irene on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Ste. Rose Cemetery in Ste. Rose du lac, MB.</p>

Our deepest sympathy to you Irene and your family. Julien’s talent and work ethics as a carpenter was so appreciated while he was employed by our construction company for many years in Dryden. He was an awesome employee and friend. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
