Joseph R. Siembida Obituary

Joseph “Joe” R. Siembida, 64, of Oil City passed away at home on January 20, 2021 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Born on Sept 7, 1956 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Carolyn Caralla and Richard Siembida. Joe married Lisa K. Morrison on Oct 11, 1980 in Oil City and shared 40 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Lisa Siembida of Oil City, his son Matthew Siembida and his wife Kristy of Oil City; his daughter Jennifer Beretsky and her husband Dave of North Carolina; two grandchildren Mila and Quinton Siembida. He is also survived by his Uncle John Caralla and his wife Mary of Oil City; his uncle Ken Siembida of Ohio; brothers-in-law, Mike Morrison (Linda) of Oil City, Tom Morrison (Karen) and Lake Morrison (Margaret) of North Carolina; sister-in-law Gretchen Himes (Jim) of Oil City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe graduated from Oil City High School and attended college at Penn State University where he graduated with a degree in architectural technology engineering. He was also certified as a Master Plumber. He first went to work at US Steel Oil Well Supply in the foundry department and moved into the engineering department until the time of its closing. He then worked for Eckert Plumbing for several years before transitioning as a co-owner of Allegheny Mechanical Inc. Eventually he decided to go his separate way in 1993 and start his own business. He was the proud owner of Siembida Plumbing and Heating Services, a successful and well-known business of the community and surrounding areas. He truly enjoyed working and helping others. Joe retired in 2019. Joe was devoted to and loved by his family and many close friends. He was a dedicated baseball and football coach and loved watching his children play sports. You would always expect to hear him say “hit somebody” as he stood at the top bleacher at Oil City Oiler Football games. Joe enjoyed being active and he especially loved the warmer months of the year. You could always count on him either swinging a golf club on the golf course or catching fish in his fishing boat. He was also noted to be a true craftsman and enjoyed using his hands. One of his favorite places to be was up in his garage where he was always listening to music and where Friday Happy Hour with friends was a weekly occurrence. He loved animals, especially dogs and had many family pets. He will be missed by so many, especially his family and dear friends. Per Joe’s request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Venango County Humane Society, 286 S. Main Street, Seneca, PA 16346 or The Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danders, MA 01923.
