On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Kathleen Golden, loving wife and mother of two sons, passed away at the age of 76. Kathleen was born on November 16, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Howard and Jean (Halloran) Skopec. She received her B.A. from Marquette University and a Masters in Education from Boston University. On April 6, 1968 Kathleen married Terence C. Golden. They raised two sons, Ryan and Matthew. After completing her masters degree, Kathleen taught deaf education in Boston for several years. Kathleen served as a board chair for both the Suicide Crisis Center in Dallas and the William Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in Washington, DC. Later she became a Georgetown University Certified Leadership coach and ultimately published a book entitled The Golden Rules of Retirement Readiness in 2016. Kathleen had a passion for dancing, particularly Argentine Tango. She enjoyed traveling with friends, learning to speak many languages, and most importantly spending quality time with her beloved husband and family. Kathleen will be remembered for her infectious enthusiasm for life, her commitment to helping others, and her warm and compassionate spirit. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband Terry; their two sons Ryan and Matthew along with their wives, Desha and Natalie respectively; her brother Michael Skopec and sister Maureen Brooks; her five grandchildren, Liane, Cassidy, Cashin, Davis and London; as well as several cousins and many nieces and nephews. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathleen’s name to the William Wendt Center for Loss and Healing or KIPP Academy DC.
