Cecile Duquette Obituary

Cecile (Lafrance) (Picard) Duquette, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 after a brief illness.

Cecile was born on January 30, 1931 in Nashua, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Baron) Lafrance. She was a faithful communicant of St. Louis de Gonzague church and attended their parochial schools. She married Raymond Duquette in 1987 who predeceased her in August 2001.

Cecile will be remembered for her love of family and her devotion to the Grey Nuns, a Catholic organization best known for helping the poor and needy. She volunteered at and managed the Grey Nuns Thrift Shop for a number of years and was instrumental in their expansion to 25 Marshall Street in Nashua, where they are still in operation today. Cecile volunteered at The Salvation Army of Nashua and the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. She also enjoyed the sharing of faith and fellowship with the Families of Nazareth Prayer Group at St. Christopher Parish. Most of all she was happiest when surrounded by her large family “serving a nice ham dinner”.

Cecile is survived by her eight children: Robert C. Picard, Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Bradenton, FL; Lucille Jenkins and her husband, Thomas, of Nashua; Catherine Smith and her husband, David, of Nashua; Roger Picard and his wife, Cyndee, of Bradenton, FL; Jeanne Dunphy and her husband, Curt, of Nashua; John Picard and his wife, Mary Ann, of Nashua; Angela Smith and her husband, Duane, of Nashua; Denise Ridgley of Corriganville, MD.  She is survived by her sister, Alice Plautz and her husband, Arthur, of Janesville, WI. Cecile is also survived by her seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cecile’s family is most thankful for the nurses at the Fairview Nursing Home, Hudson, NH, who provided her with loving and dedicated care.
