Lillian Mae King, 97, moved peacefully and gracefully to her heavenly home with her Lord on January 20, 2021. She passed while in the loving care of the staff at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. Born July 25, 1923 to Mabel and Benton Pearson, Lillian spent her entire life in Whatcom County. She attended grade school in Custer, and graduated from Lynden High School in 1941. She modestly described herself as a homemaker, and indeed she was - a devoted mother who created a home guided by the principles of faith, generosity, and love. She modeled this every day, offering rides to church and regularly visiting those confined or ill. Her work outside the home included field work in raspberries and beans and as a cook for the schools, care center, and hospital. Through the years, Lillian continued to be an anchor to her family with her unwavering faith and genuine kindness. With a twinkle in her eye, her face would light up at a visit from family or friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Truman King, her previous husband Ira Weidkamp, and her siblings Eleanore Komac, Lois Weidkamp, and Arthur Pearson. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Betty Steenmeyer of Anchorage, AK and her children: Marvin (Carol) Weidkamp of Lynden, Judi (Hank) Van Beek of Birch Bay & Yuma, AZ, Dennis (Patti) Weidkamp of Lake Forest Park, WA, Jan (Ron) Holtrop of Lynden, and Rick (Daleen) Weidkamp of Lynden. With her marriage to Truman, her family increased to include seven more children: Dale (Helen) King of Scottsdale, AZ, Barbara Van Dalen of Lynden, Karen Ceranova of Bellingham, Dan (Carolyn) King of Loveland, CO, Steve (MaryAnn) King of Lynden, Dean (Linda) King of Lynden, Debby (Alan) Baron of Lynden. She had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Lillian’s family extends sincere gratitude to the incredible staff at the Christian Health Care Center who tenderly loved and cared for her over the past 1 1/2 years, particularly during the isolation of the COVID pandemic. Private burial will take place at Greenacres Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Lillian’s life will be planned for this summer. Lillian can be honored with donations to The Lighthouse Mission or Christian Health Care Center. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services
