Freddie Bollinger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Freddie (Fred) Bollinger on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the age of 90 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 68 years, Beatrice; three sons, Dennis (Gwen) of Cypress County, Rod (Erna) of Victoria, BC, Darrell (Margaret) of Cupar, SK; one daughter, Sherry (Gideon Mandel) of Medicine Hat; ten grandchildren, Jody (Mike MacKenzie) of Cypress County, Janel (Wade Traverse) of Elkford, BC, Carla (Byron Cavan) of Medicine Hat, Kari (Devon McLaren) of Medicine Hat, Lindsey (Chris Ruddick) of Victoria, BC, Meagon (Jarrot Drennan) 0f McLennon, AB, Amanda (Shay McKinley) of Dunmore, Tyler Bollinger of Regina, SK, Chelsey Mandel (Tyler Goldade) of Medicine Hat and Ryan Mandel of Medicine Hat; 14 great grandchildren, Isabel, Erica, Logan, Cody, Kessler, Trey,Kendra, Ava, Quinn, Aubrey, Keaton, Lili, Luke and Olivia as well as numerous nieces, nephews, In-laws and friends. Freddie was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Christina; two brothers, Art (Freida), Edwin (Olga); three sisters, Mary (John Zeller), Martha (Ted Schneider), Rosie (Dave Miller). Freddie grew up on the family farm south of Irvine. He learned all about farming at a very young age of 12 after the sudden passing of his father in June 1941. He had a love for horses and enjoyed rodeos, horse racing and chuckwagons. After semi retirement he enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golf, curling and bowling. Due to his dementia his last two years were spent at the Good Samaritans where he was well liked and well taken care of by the wonderful staff. He loved his family and will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Dad. Public viewing will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel #1 Dunmore Road SE Medicine Hat, AB on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Due to current COVID-19 - restrictions, attendance for the memorial service will be by invitation only. Memorial gifts in Freddie’s memory may be made to Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200, 119 – 14th Street NW, Calgary, AB T1A 7L5.
