Mary Driver

Miss Mary Katherine Driver, age 85 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Floyd Medical Center. Miss Driver was born in Alcoa, Tennessee on December 23, 1935, daughter of the late John Driver and Mary Lou Stiles Driver. She was employed with Verizon for over 37 years and was of the Baptist Faith. Miss Driver was an avid gardener and had been a member of several garden clubs. Following her retirement, she volunteered her time working in green houses and working with the Lookout Mountain Animal Resources, where she helped find permanent homes for shelter animals. In addition to her parents, Miss Driver was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Driver. Miss Driver is survived by a sister, Josephine Baker; Nieces and Nephews, David and Amanda Driver, Daniel and Danita Driver, Jeanne and Ed Flener, Donna Lee and Mario Fernandes, and Charles Pledger; special nephew, Clark Nicklow; life-long friend, Carolyn Nicklow; special friend and caregiver, Mary Stegall; a number of great nieces and great nephews; and last but certainly not least, her fur babies, Bellah, Hanna and Ellie Mae. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, on Thursday, January 21, from 4-5 p.m. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland. The family respectfully asks that no flowers be sent, however those desiring may make memorial contributions to your local animal shelter or to a charity of your choice in honor of Miss Driver. For safety precautions and according to CDC guidelines, we ask everyone to wear a mask and please honor the social distancing guideline.
